How much does a website cost in Leicester?
A straight answer from a Leicestershire web designer, with real prices and no sales pitch.
The short answer
With me, a small business website starts from £200 for a one-page site, with a fixed price agreed in writing before any work starts. Most sites go live 3 to 5 days after you say yes. After launch, you pay for your domain each year, and ongoing care from £25 a month is optional.
I'm Leo, and I run Leovate on my own from Syston. These are my own prices, not an average of anyone else's. Other designers and agencies charge very different amounts, so use the questions at the bottom of this page to compare quotes fairly.
What you get for £200
- A one-page website designed around your business, that works on phones
- Your services, prices, contact details and an enquiry form
- Set up so Google can read it: page titles, descriptions and business details
- Connected to your domain with a secure padlock (https)
- You see it finished before you pay
What pushes the price up
More pages
A one-page site is the quickest to build. A separate page for each service, an about page and a gallery all add time.
Booking, payments or a shop
Taking bookings or card payments through the site means extra setup and testing compared with a simple enquiry form.
Writing the words for you
If you already know what you want to say, it's faster. If I need to write all the copy from scratch, it takes longer.
Moving from an old site
Moving a domain, rescuing content or fixing a hacked site adds work, but it's usually a one-off.
The running costs nobody mentions
Domain name
The address people type in, like yourbusiness.co.uk. You renew it once a year. It should always be registered in your name.
Hosting
Where the site lives. A simple, fast site like the ones I build can be hosted on a free plan, so there's no monthly hosting bill.
Ongoing care (optional)
Updates, fixes and keeping the site healthy after launch. With me this starts from £25 a month, and you can skip it if you'd rather not.
Business email (optional)
An email address on your own domain, like hello@yourbusiness.co.uk, is a separate monthly subscription from an email provider.
5 questions to ask any web designer
- Is the price fixed and written down before you start?
- Will the domain and hosting be in my name?
- Can I see the site working before I pay?
- What will I pay every month or year after launch?
- Who do I contact if something breaks, and how quickly will they reply?

You'll pay for your domain name each year. Hosting for a simple site can be free. Ongoing care from me, which covers updates and fixes, starts from £25 a month and is optional.
Most of the websites I build go live 3 to 5 days after you say yes, once I have your details and photos.
Not with me. You see the finished site working before you pay, and it doesn't go live until you're happy with it.
You should. With me, your domain, hosting and accounts stay in your name. Always check this with any web designer before you pay them.
